SkillsUSA
SkillsUSA, formerly known as VICA, is a nationally recognized organization that supports high school students enrolled in trade, technical, and industrial education programs. The organization is designed to help students build strong technical skills while also developing the leadership, responsibility, and professionalism needed for future success.
Guided by the motto, “Preparing for leadership in the world of work,” SkillsUSA provides students with opportunities to grow in a supportive and encouraging environment. Students work alongside classmates who share similar career interests, forming positive relationships while learning the importance of teamwork, communication, and respect in the workplace.
For high school students, SkillsUSA offers meaningful experiences that connect classroom learning to real-world careers. Students may participate in regional, state, and national competitions that reflect industry standards and workplace expectations. These events help students gain confidence, practice problem-solving skills, and take pride in their accomplishments.
SkillsUSA is open to all high school students enrolled in a trade or industrial education program, regardless of experience level. The organization welcomes beginners and advanced students alike, providing guidance and encouragement as they develop both technical abilities and leadership skills.
SkillsUSA prepares students not only for future careers, but also for life beyond high school. By combining hands-on learning with leadership development, the program helps students become confident, capable, and career-ready young adults.
